Gamecocks land commitment from JUCO outfielder

The South Carolina baseball team on Monday landed its second junior college commitment in the last two weeks.

Dom Thompson-Williams of Iowa Western announced his pledge to the Gamecocks via Twitter on Monday afternoon.

“Every since I can remember I’ve been dreaming about this. SEC baseball .. Here I come #Gamecocks,” he tweeted.

Thompson-Williams is originally from Sioux City, Iowa. In 55 games this season, he is batting .407 with 81 hits, five home runs and 44 RBIs to go with 20 stolen bases, 14 doubles and seven triples.

He will compete for a spot in the USC outfield in 2016. The Gamecocks return Gene Cone and Clark Scolamiero but will lose senior outfielders Elliott Caldwell, Connor Bright and Patrick Harrington.

USC late last month landed a commitment from junior college first baseman Ross Grosvenor of Walters State Community College in Morristown, Tenn.
