South Carolina loses a member of its 2021 recruiting class
The South Carolina football team lost a 2021 commitment Friday from Atlanta cornerback Demarko Williams. He announced he was no longer committed to the Gamecocks.
The 5-foot-10, 165-pound corner from Westlake High School in Atlanta originally pledged to the Gamecocks in January. He has since reported offers from Florida State, Ole Miss, Kentucky, Gardner-Webb, Tennessee, Maryland and Arkansas.
“After much thought and careful consideration with my family, I have decided to withdraw my commitment to the University of South Carolina. I want to thank Coach T-Rob and Coach Muschamp for their opportunity they’ve presented to me. At this time my recruitment is 100% open.”
The defection leaves three members in South Carolina’s 2021 class: quarterback Colten Gauthier, wide receiver Sam Reynolds and cornerback Marcellas Dial.
Dial committed to the Gamecocks on Monday.
Williams is the second recruit to decommit from the Gamecocks for this class. Running back Lovasea Carroll committed in the spring and decommitted late in the summer. Carroll is still considering South Carolina and has the Gamecocks among his top five schools.
