Big Georgia lineman commits to South Carolina
South Carolina football fans had to wait a few days for Will Muschamp’s second #SpursUp from Monday to be revealed.
But Wednesday afternoon, Georgia offensive lineman Jordan Davis made his commitment to the Gamecocks public, becoming the ninth member of the 2021 USC recruiting class. Defensive back Jayden Johnson committed earlier in the week.
“It feels, good it feels good,” Davis said. “I really like what they have going on and I’m happy to be a part of it. I really like the atmosphere there. I plan to visit once the dead period is over.”
The 6-foot-5, 288-pounder’s other offers included Georgia Tech, Kansas and Akron.
He is rated a three-star prospect and the No. 1,385 player in the country in the 247Sports Composite rankings that factors in all networks. He’s 118th among offensive tackles and 116th among players from Georgia.
He technically committed to Muschamp and USC on Monday, the same day he announced his scholarship offer. Davis is the first offensive lineman in the class.
Before announcing his commitment, he said he’d been in contact with Gamecocks offensive line coach Eric Wolford for several weeks. He’s also excited about the chance to learn and grow under offensive line coach Eric Wolford.
“Opportunity to step a level up because I know he’s a really good coach,” Davis said. “My strength is my pass protection, and I’m very mobile. I can get around.”
As a high school junior, he was part of an offense that ran for 186.3 yards a game.
