Speedy athlete from Florida commits to Gamecocks for 2021 class
South Carolina football added speedy receiver Simeon Price to its recruiting class on Wednesday.
Price, who attends West Florida Tech in Pensacola, Florida, made his commitment announcement on Twitter. He is the Gamecocks 12th commitment for Class of 2021 and can also play defense. It is unclear if USC will play him on offense or defense.
“I’ve been impressed by the players who have been there, and the coaching staff. I’ve talked to Coach Robinson, Coach Muschamp and Coach Bentley and they are great guys, and that’s what I’m looking for,” Price said last month.
Price’s father, Mitchell, played in the NFL for four seasons from 1990-93 with the Cincinnati Bengals, Los Angeles Rams and and Arizona Cardinals. He also was an All-American track athlete in high school.
247Sports ranks Price as a three-star prospect and the No. 110 prospect in Florida. He also had offers from Oklahoma, Virginia, Michigan State, Nebraska, Mississippi State and Louisville. Clemson also showed interest.
Price had 18 catches for 292 yards last season and had 14 tackles on defense.
Price, who also runs track, won the Combine Challenge Champion at Nike’s The Opening Regional in New Orleans March of 2019. He recorded a 4.64 40-yard dash, 43.5 foot power ball toss, a 4.27 shuttle run and a 38.2 vertical jump, according to the Pensacola News Journal
