Do-it-all running back from Georgia commits to South Carolina for 2021 class

The South Carolina football team’s running back room looks to be solid for 2020, and will get not one but two more options the following season.

Savannah, Georgia tailback Antario Brown made his pledge Thursday afternoon, joining South Carolina’s 2021 recruiting class. He’s the second running back alongside Caleb McDowell, from Lee County, Georgia.

The 5-foot-11, 205 pounder is the No. 977 recruit in the country by the 247 Sports composite rankings and No. 65 running back. He’s the 85th-best player in Georgia.

As a junior, Brown put up 1,008 yards in just seven games last season.

The Gamecocks delivered Brown’s first offer back in May. He had Virginia Tech as his other finalists.

He and McDowell project to join a running back room that could return five scholarship backs for the 2021 season. The group projects to be led by junior college transfer Zaquandre White and freshman MarShawn Lloyd.
