USC Recruiting

Watch a 285-pound Gamecocks commit take snaps, truck his way into the end zone

Turn on the video, and it just seems like not the nicest things to do to some kids playing for Andrews High School.

T.J. Sanders is a 2021 South Carolina football commit. At 6-foot-5, 285 pounds, he’ll likely end up a defensive tackle, maybe defensive end considering his quickness and good feet. But last Friday, his coaches at Marion High School rolled him in at another position.

Already a high school tight end, he got a little work at Wildcat quarterback.

The plan produced at least two carries, one a rumbling touchdown and the other taking the Swamp Fox offense to the goal line. He also played standup defensive end and got after the quarterback on several occasions.

He finished the game with 11 tackles, four sacks and the touchdown run.

The three-star recruit is the No. 631 player in his class nationally in the 247 Sports composite rankings. He’s the No. 8 player in the state and No. 37 defensive tackle.
