South Carolina added some depth to its backfield on Monday.

Wake Forest transfer Christian Beal-Smith committed to the Gamecocks after visiting the school this weekend. Beal-Smith is the fourth transfer addition since Saturday, joining North Carolina State defensive lineman Terrell Dawkins, Central Michigan defensive back Davonni Reed and James Madison receiver Antwane Wells.

Beal-Smith, Reed and Wells all announced their commitments Monday.

Beal-Smith ran for 1,871 yards in his four-year career with the Demon Deacons. He has been Wake Forest’s leading rusher for the past two seasons and entered the transfer portal on Jan. 3 as a graduate.

The 5-foot-10, 201-pound running back totaled 604 yards and seven touchdowns on 131 carries this year in helping the Demon Deacons to the ACC Atlantic Division championship. He had 23 yards rushing against Rutgers in the TaxSlayer Bowl.

In 2020, Beal-Smith rushed for a career-high 732 yards and five touchdowns. He’ll be immediately eligible to play.

Beal-Smith was a 247Sports Composite three-star recruit out of East Forsyth High School in North Carolina.

Beal-Smith’s addition will give the Gamecocks another option in the backfield after Kevin Harris and ZaQuandre White both declared for the NFL Draft. The Gamecocks still have Marshawn Lloyd, JuJu McDowell and Rashad Amos returning next season.

Joining the four recent commitments during December’s early signing period were quarterback Spencer Rattler and Austin Stogner, both via Oklahoma.
