Shane Beamer’s Gamecocks add first in-state commit in 2023 class
South Carolina football added its first in-state piece for the Class of 2023.
Safety Judge Collier of Legion Collegiate in Rock Hill committed to Shane Beamer and the Gamecocks on Saturday. He is the seventh public commitment for USC in the Class of 2023 with some of them being safeties.
South Carolina offered Collier on June 5 after participating in camp there. He took a visit to USC last weekend.
““I went out there in one-on-ones and covered some of the top guys they had out there at receiver and got a lot of reps. I did well in the drills. I had great measurables in the 40-time and broad jump,” Collier told Phil Kornblut after his camp showing.. “I’ve got range, I’m long, I performed well and have good ball-skills. They said some of my best football is yet to come, so they like my potential and what I have to offer.”
Collier also had offers from Boston College, Wofford, Navy and Air Force.
The 6-foot-1, 185-pound Collier played offense and defense last season for Legion Collegiate, which competes in North Carolina Private school league despite being in SC. On defense, he had 26 tackles and passes defensed.
Collier played quarterback on offense, throwing for 316 yards and four touchdowns while rushing for 231 yards and three scores.
