Gamecocks extend offer to local quarterback standout
AJ Brand is one of the top sophomore quarterback prospects in South Carolina and picked up his first major scholarship offer on Monday.
The South Carolina Gamecocks offered the Irmo High School quarterback, he announced via Twitter. The Gamecocks are Brand’s first offer from a Power 5 school.
Brand has been a two-year starter for Irmo. He played receiver as a freshman before moving to quarterback for the 2022 season.
Brand had more than 2,000 yards of total offense and 25 touchdowns despite missing time with an injury. He was a Class 4A all-state selection by the S.C. Football Coaches Association.
Brand has made a few visits to USC and was on campus with other sophomore and junior prospects last week. He is a prospect for the 2025 recruiting class.
