South Carolina football commit Josiah Thompson got another star added in the latest On3 recruiting rankings.

The Dillon High offensive lineman is now a five-star prospect — the highest rating possible — in the rankings released Monday. On3 ranks Thompson as the ninth-best prospect nationally in the Class of 2024. The 6-foot-6, 275-pounder committed to the Gamecocks in the spring and was selected to the Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas All-Star game on Sunday.

Thompson is one of two Gamecocks commitments ranked as five-star prospects by On3. Defensive end Dylan Stewart is the other, and he is ranked No. 12 overall in the class.

On3’s Charles Power wrote: “South Carolina pledge Josiah Thompson (No. 9) has a case as the highest upside offensive lineman in the cycle, in large part due to his outstanding reactive quickness. The 6-foot-6, 275-pounder is a nimble, flexible athlete who moves like a much smaller player. Thompson’s lateral movement skills project well as a pass protector. The Dillon (S.C.) product has the look of a pure left tackle at the next level.”

The complete updated On3 rankings are expected to come out later Monday.
