Wide receiver flips commitment from South Carolina, signs with another school
Three-star wide receiver and South Carolina football commit Zy’marion Lang has signed with Toledo, the team announced via X (formerly Twitter) Wednesday.
Lang is the No. 78 wide receiver prospect in the nation. He committed to the Gamecocks in July. His X bio says he runs a 4.31 40-yard dash. The 6-foot-3, 170-pound Florida native had chosen South Carolina over Pitt, Kansas State and USF before signing with Toledo.
TheBigSpur reported this week that Lang wouldn’t sign with South Carolina but did not indicate why.
Lang played in 13 games and caught 37 passes for 586 yards and had eight touchdowns this season at Cardinal Mooney, according to MaxPreps. He also rushed the ball seven times for 46 yards and one TD. On the defensive side of the ball, he racked up 28 tackles — including three for a loss of yards — two interceptions and nine passes defended.
South Carolina’s 2024 class signed four-star wide receiver Mazeo Bennett Wednesday morning. Jalewis Solomon, the No. 9 athlete prospect in the nation and new USC signee, played cornerback and wide reciever in high school but signed as a DB. The Gamecocks have also received pledges from transfer wide receivers Jayden McGowan (Vanderbilt) and Jared Brown (Coastal Carolina).
