Gamecocks lose tight end recruit commitment in flip to ACC school
Just a day before South Carolina plays in one of its biggest games of the season, the Gamecocks received some bad news on the recruiting trail.
Three-star tight end Preston Douglas, who committed to South Carolina in June, announced on Thursday that he was flipping his pledge from the Gamecocks to N.C. State.
Douglas was the only tight end committed to South Carolina in the Class of 2025. But even with his change of mind, the Gamecocks still have 20 current pledges, including five wide receivers.
Paying his senior season at The Benjamin School in North Palm Beach, Florida, Douglas has caught 16 passes this year for 225 and 3 touchdowns this season, with 11 tackles and three sacks on defense.
Douglas is the third South Carolina flip in the past couple months. Back in July, four-star cornerback Shamari Earls (Georgia) and three-star linebacker Jaiden Braker (LSU) both decommitted from South Carolina in favor of another SEC school.
