DL recruit is new in town. Now he’s got an offer from South Carolina
Another Dutch Fork High School football player is on South Carolina’s radar.
Silver Foxes junior defensive end Jaden Wuerth picked up an offer from the Gamecocks on Friday after attending USC’s offensive line/defensive line camp.
The 6-foot-2 270-pound is a new face to the Silver Foxes roster after transferring in April from Aquinas High School in Georgia. Wuerth has picked up several offers over the past few weeks, including Liberty, Murray State, Western Kentucky and Georgia Tech.
“The offer definitely means a lot with South Carolina being so close to Dutch Fork and players that used to play Dutch Fork now playing at South Carolina,” Wuerth told The State.
Dutch Fork’s Josh Smith signed with the Gamecocks in December and was a early enrollee at the school.
On3 ranks Wuerth as a three-star prospect. He has yet to appear in the 247Sports rankings.
Wuerth started as a high school freshman and put up big numbers with 286 tackles, including 74 for loss and 27 sacks in his first two seasons. Now, he looks to make an impact with the Silver Foxes, the defending Class 5A Division I champions and one of the state’s premier programs.
“The transition wasn’t bad at all. I was glad to come into a great program where the culture is to just work and become the best version of yourself,” Wuerth said.
The Gamecocks already are heavily involved with Wuerth’s teammate and Class of 2026 defensive Julian Walker who will have an official visit coming up in the future after taking visits to North Carolina and North Carolina State two previous weekends. Walker also will visit Michigan later this month.
