Versatile in-state recruit commits to South Carolina for 2026 class
Shane Beamer has added a commitment to his 2026 recruiting class.
In-state prospect Triston Lewis announced his commitment to South Carolina on social media on Thursday, not long after reporting an offer from the Gamecocks. Lewis plays at Greenwood High in Greenwood, the same school that produced Gamecock legend D.J. Swearinger.
Lewis is listed as an athlete by 247Sports. He’s played mostly quarterback during his high school career but started playing safety this summer and picked up an offer to play defensive back at South Carolina. He also held an offer from Gardner-Webb.
Lewis passed for 1,444 yards and 11 touchdowns last year and added 843 yards and 11 touchdowns on the ground. He also earned All-Region 1-AAAA honors in 2023 and 2024.
Lewis checks in a 6-foot-3 and 200 pounds. He also plays basketball and baseball at Greenwood, per MaxPreps.
He’s the second defensive back pledge in the class.
