South Carolina loses commitment to SEC rival on eve of another 5-star’s decision
South Carolina football lost one of its commitments for Class of 2026, but another might be on the way.
Four-star offensive lineman Kamari Blair announced Thursday that he is flipping from South Carolina to Tennessee. On3/Rivals were the first to report the move.
The move leaves Gamecocks with 14 commitments for the Class of 2026.
Blair’s decision comes a day before five-star offensive lineman Darius Gray makes his college choice. The Gamecocks are in the mix for Gray along with Clemson, LSU, Ohio State and Tennessee. Gray’s decision will be on CBS Sports Network on Friday night at 7 p.m.
Many recruiting analysts have predicted the Gamecocks will land Gray’s commitment.
Blair committed to South Carolina a little more than a month ago. He was ranked as a four-star prospect by 247Sports’ Composite rankings — a Top-300 player nationally and the No. 25 offensive tackle in America.
“I loved it. The players. The coaches. Nobody was BS-ing me,” Blair said after his official visit to South Carolina. “Everybody was, Hey, it’s not going to be all unicorns and rainbows; you are going to have to work. They were just honest, that’s what I liked about it. Nobody was telling me I’m going to start my freshman year. Nobody was telling me the workouts are easy. They were telling me the whole program is built off of grit and toughness. That’s what I really liked about it. That’s what stood out to me.”
