Why was country music star Luke Bryan at South Carolina-Alabama football game?
There were plenty of big names in attendance for Saturday’s South Carolina-Alabama football game. One of them was country music superstar Luke Bryan.
The five-time Entertainer of the Year was at Williams-Brice Stadium for the matchup with No. 4 Crimson Tide.
But Bryan wasn’t performing or being recognized for anything. He was there on a recruiting trip with his oldest son, Bo Bryan, a junior quarterback at Battle Ground Academy in Franklin, Tennessee. Battle Ground is coached by former South Carolina assistant Bobby Bentley.
Bo Bryan is a backup QB for Battle Ground and has appeared in seven games this season. He played on Friday and was 3-of-3 for 25 yards in the 56-14 win over Greenpasture Christian. Battle Ground is 8-1 on the season.
In six games, the 6-foot-2, 205-pound Bryan is 23-of-36 passing for 262 yards and four touchdowns.
This isn’t the first Southeastern Conference game Bryan has taken in this year. He was also in Georgia for a visit last month.
Luke Bryan is a noted Georgia Bulldogs fan, and his son Bo is good friends with Bulldogs QB commitment Jared Curtis.
The 49-year-old Luke Bryan last performed at Colonial Life Arena in Columbia in 2017.
