Talented DB commits to Shane Beamer, Gamecocks for Class of 2027
On the day the transfer portal officially opened, South Carolina received a commitment .... from a high schooler.
Yes, the Gamecocks landed their second 2027 pledge on Friday, earning a commitment from four-star cornerback Aamaury Fountain.
A 6-foot-1, 171-pound defensive back from Warner Robins, Georgia, had 10 SEC offers — most of which came in October — but decided to commit to South Carolina head coach Shane Beamer and defensive backs coach Torian Gray.
Fountain’s commitment comes just over a week after four-star safety Jernard Albright became the first 2027 prospect to commit to South Carolina, making his decision on Christmas. In other words, Gray has been responsible for both of South Carolina’s commitments.
Per the 247 Composite Rankings, Fountain is a top-350 prospect in America, a top-35 cornerback in the nation and the No. 37 player in Georgia. ESPN has him ranked as a four-star prospect.
As a junior for Northside High School last year, he had 32 tackles and recorded 4 interceptions.
