A wide receiver with a family connection to the Gamecocks has earned a scholarship offer from South Carolina football.

Class of 2028 wide receiver Jaytn Briles, the son of USC offensive coordinator Kendal Briles, announced a USC offer via social media Wednesday.

Jaytn Briles (5-11, 175) is a rising junior at All Saints’ Episcopal School in Forth Worth, Texas. He is unranked by 247Sports and ESPN but is a three-star recruit and the No. 87 receiver in his class per On3 Sports.

Briles participated in the first Shane Beamer Football Camp session of the summer Tuesday at USC’s practice facility and ran a 4.41-second 40-yard dash. He wrote on X he was “blessed” to be offered by Beamer and the Gamecocks.

South Carolina is Jaytn Briles’ ninth Division I scholarship offer and his second SEC scholarship offer (Mississippi State).

Briles caught 30 passes for 571 yards and four touchdowns as a sophomore at All Saints’ Episcopal and averaged 39.8 yards per kick return on six attempts.

Beamer hired Briles as his new offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach in December after firing former OC Mike Shula midway through his first season in the role. Briles was most recently the offensive coordinator at TCU from 2023-25.

While Kendal Briles has moved to Columbia for his new job, Jaytn Briles is expected to remain in Texas with family to continue his prep football career. Jaytn is the oldest of Kendal and Sarah Briles’ three children.

Kendal Briles also played wide receiver in college at Houston.

Beamer and South Carolina are no stranger to recruiting their own coaches’ kids. True freshman edge rusher and Dutch Fork alum Julian Walker is the son of USC strength and conditioning staffer Jamil Walker, and true freshman receiver Stone Furrey is the son of Gamecocks receivers coach Mike Furrey.
