South Carolina football adds commitment from 2027 quarterback recruit
South Carolina football has added another quarterback commit.
On Friday, Class of 2027 quarterback Luke Gaither announced he’d committed to coach Shane Beamer and the Gamecocks. Gaither will join USC as a preferred walk-on, per a report from Gamecock247.
Gaither attended a South Carolina camp earlier this week and announced a USC offer on Thursday. Gaither (6-4, 175) plays at Liberty Christian Academy in Radford, Virginia and is unranked by most major recruiting services.
Gaither’s other offers included SEC school Arkansas; mid-majors including Coastal Carolina, Charlotte, App State and Southern Miss; and some FCS schools.
South Carolina, like most programs, generally only recruits one scholarship quarterback per high school class. USC currently holds a commitment from three-star Texas quarterback Jerry Meyer III in the Class of 2027.
Gaither threw for 1,232 yards, nine touchdowns and four interceptions as a junior at Liberty Christian Academy last fall and also had two rushing touchdowns.
In his prep career, he has nearly 4,000 passing yards.
“I’ve decided to bet on myself and announce my commitment to the University of South Carolina!” he wrote Friday, attaching a #WelcomeHome hashtag.
