DT prospect Kobe Smith picks South Carolina

Defensive lineman Kobe Smith of Lawrenceville, Ga., will enroll early after all.

Smith (6-4, 295) confirmed Wednesday night that he will enroll at South Carolina this week.

The Archer High prospect had intended to show up at either South Carolina or Kentucky this past Saturday and enroll for classes. However, he announced over the weekend that there was a mistake in his transcripts. That issue appears to be cleared up.

Smith is a former Kentucky and N.C. State commitment and now gives the Gamecocks 21 pledges for the 2016 class.

USC’s Will Muschamp and Travaris Robinson recruited him while he was at Auburn and jumped back in on him once he decommitted Dec. 27 from Kentucky.

Smith will be the sixth high school prospect to enroll midyear, joining Bryan Edwards, C.J. Freeman, Brandon McIlwain, Chris Smith and Keir Thomas.
