Tight end Evan Hinson picks South Carolina over Southern Cal

Tight end depth was a bit of a concern for last year’s South Carolina football team, and that was before No. 1 option Jerell Adams exhausted his eligibility. Wednesday morning the Gamecocks picked up some reinforcements on that front.

South Carolina landed a commitment from tight end Evan Hinson of Deltona, Fla., Wednesday morning.

Hinson also had offers from Southern Cal, Miami, Florida and several others. He was at one time committed to Miami before opening up his recruitment. He ultimately chose the Gamecocks over Southern Cal.

Hinson visited South Carolina the weekend of Jan. 15 and visited Southern Cal this past weekend.

He is rated as a three-star prospect by 247Sports and Rivals.
