Top JUCO corner Jamarcus King signs with Gamecocks

Junior college cornerback Jamarcus King has signed with South Carolina for the second time in the past two months.

King originally signed with the Gamecocks in December but was unable to enroll in January, as he had hoped, due to academics.

He played at Coffeyville Community College in Kansas after attending Blount High School in Alabama.

A strong relationship with USC coach Will Muschamp and defensive coordinator Travaris Robinson helped the Gamecocks land King.

“I feel like I can fit in,” King said. “(Muschamp) and T-Rob have been together for a long time and I feel like they can get something going. Coach Robinson is a great coach, great personality.”

King also had offers from Arkansas, Auburn, Baylor, Florida and several others. He took an official visit to USC Dec. 12 and originally signed with the Gamecocks the following week.

He is rated as a four-star prospect by the 247Sports Composite rankings and was considered one of the top JUCO corners by all networks.

As a sophomore at Coffeyville Community College, King recorded 37 tackles with three interceptions and 10 pass breakups. He was named first-team All-Jayhawk Conference and received honorable mention All-American accolades.
