Evan Hinson makes it official, signs with USC

Tight end Evan Hinson out of Deltona High School in Deltona, Fla., has signed with South Carolina.

Hinson, who was originally committed to Miami, will also play basketball for the Gamecocks.

Hinson gets along well with Carolina head coach Will Muschamp and tight ends coach Pat Washington, and that played a big role in him signing with USC.

“I have a good relationship with my tight ends coach and Coach Muschamp,” Hinson said. “I liked how I was comfortable with the players and how I can fit in with that. They are an SEC school, and they are competitive in their conference.”

Hinson committed to USC Jan. 27, choosing the Gamecocks over Southern Cal. He officially visited South Carolina Jan. 15 and the Trojans Jan. 22.

In addition to South Carolina and Southern Cal, Hinson held offers from Georgia Tech, Miami, Michigan, North Carolina, West Virginia and several other schools.

Hinson is rated as a three-star prospect by the 247Sports Composite rankings.
