Gamecocks add pair of baseball commitments
South Carolina’s baseball team saw the departure of some high-end talent at the end of a bounceback 2016 season.
Now they’re adding more talents to shore up the program’s future.
Late Thursday, Neptune Beach, Florida infielder Tyler Callihan tweeted he’d committed to the Gamecocks for the 2019 class. A day later, Boiling Springs freshman pitcher Dawson Taylor tweeted he’d joined up for 2020.
Extremely blessed to commit to the University of South Carolina for baseball couldn't thank my family and friends enough #Spursup #gococks

Callihan is a highly-rated prospect nationally, a lefty with power. He hit .326 for Providence high school with 28 RBIs and three home runs in the regular season.
Taylor was an all-region pick after going 5-1 with a 1.73 ERA and struck out 23 in 28.1 innings pitched.
