USC RB target Master Teague poised to trim schools for short list
Running back Master Teague of Murfreesboro, Tenn., is trying to clarity in his recruiting so that he can get his list down to a final three.
But more offers add more confusion. Wednesday night Teague (5-11, 210) landed one from Notre Dame. An Irish offer normally causes a recruit to pause and take notice, and that might happen with Teague. South Carolina and Clemson also remain as contenders. The Gamecocks have offered, the Tigers have not, and Teague said only offering schools will make his final list.
“South Carolina has been by to see me twice during my spring practice,” Teague said. “Coach [Bobby] Bentley came both times. Clemson has been by once and will be here for a second time. Coach [Jeff] Scott came the first time and Coach [Tony] Elliott is coming. My spring practice ends Friday. Next week my family and I will sit down and talk about schools and hopefully start to narrow things down further.”
Teague has been strong on USC throughout the process as the Gamecocks were one of his early offers. And despite not offering, Clemson also has been among his favorites. While some reports state that Teague is more inclined toward Auburn, Tennessee or Georgia, he said the Gamecocks and Tigers are still right there with him.
“No change in how I feel about them at this time,” he said. “They are both good programs that I can fit in and thrive in. When we sit down next week we will look at pros and cons as a family and hopefully make some decisions.”
But Clemson, or any other non-offering school, won’t make the short list without an offer.
“Hopefully a top three,” Teague said of what he wants to cut his list down to. “It will only be schools that have offered me.”
