What one of the Gamecocks signees who hasn’t enrolled still needs to do
Hollywood, Fla., offensive lineman Jordon Carty is one of three USC 2017 signees who did not enroll for summer school because there was still academic work to complete.
According to his former assistant coach Junior Rosegreen, Carty is a point shy of qualifying and will retake the SAT soon. Rosegreen is optimistic Carty will qualify and be able to report in late August.
He said USC remains very much involved with him. Carty, he said, is now 6-foot-8, 335 pounds.
“We’re obviously excited about him,” South Carolina offensive line coach Eric Wolford said on signing day. “He has left tackle ability. Can play right tackle. And he’s a guy that if he handles his business here will be a longtime player.”
The other two signees still on hold for academic reasons are defensive back Keisean Nixon and offensive line Jordan Rhodes. The Big Spur reported both had qualified and will report next week.
