Muschamp, Robinson talking nearly daily to top DB target

There’s been no change in the recruiting status of Alpharetta, Ga., defensive back Jaycee Horn over the past two months. Since early July, Horn has had South Carolina, Tennessee and Alabama deadlocked at the top of his list. He had originally planned to make a commitment July 15 but couldn’t, and now the decision will drag on into the season. Horn plans to visit each of the schools one more time before making the call.

Horn said he gets a text from USC coach Will Muschamp every day and he talks with defensive coordinator and secondary coach Travaris Robinson about every two days.

“South Carolina and Tennessee, I talk with the head coaches more, coach Muschamp and coach Jones,” Horn said. “I talk to coach Saban from time to time but not as much as I talk to those two.”

He said he does talk regularly with the Alabama secondary coach.

Horn said there is no leader among the three at this point. He said he could see a decision coming around the end of September or the middle of the season.

“I’m trying to narrow it down as quickly as possible,” he said.

Notes:

▪  2020 right-handed pitcher Cade Austin of Chapin committed to South Carolina.

▪  Porter-Gaud’s Aaron Nesmith, a 6-foot-5 forward, of will take an official visit to Florida later this month. He has visited Vanderbilt officially and USC unofficially.
