Top-five national prospect picks Baylor over Gamecocks

Aquira DeCosta, a 6-foot-2 forward from Sacramento, announced a commitment Thursday for Baylor. She also made official visits to South Carolina, Southern Cal, Louisville and Tennessee.

▪  Olivia Nelson-Ododa, a 6-foot-4 big from Winder, Ga., will visit Connecticut this weekend. She also has visited USC and Florida State.

▪  2021 prospect Kourtney Rittenberry of Snellville, Ga., made an unofficial visit to USC Saturday for women’s basketball.

▪  Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., defensive end Jarrett Jackson was offered by USC on Monday. He’s been a Louisville commitment since August. He also has offers from Florida State, Wake Forest, Rutgers, North Carolina, Virginia Tech, Duke, Pitt and others.

▪  Spartanburg linebacker Connor Shugart was offered a preferred walk-on spot by USC Monday night. He has a Furman offer. Shugart was selected for the Shrine Bowl.

▪  Rumson, N.J., tight end Elijah McAllister said he’s not heard from USC since his unofficial visit for the Kentucky game. He’s hoping that will change once the Gamecocks see his senior film of him playing defensive end. That’s practically all he’s played this season and teams are now recruiting him for that. He recently took an unofficial visit to Boston College. He said Rutgers and Purdue are coming to scout him soon. In three games this season McAllister has five sacks and nine tackles for loss.

▪  Marietta, Ga., 2019 wide receiver/linebacker Jeremiah Pruitte and 2019 wide receiver CJ Ogbonna made unofficial visits to South Carolina on Saturday.

▪  Cumming, Ga., 2019 offensive line David Bowman of also made an unofficial visit to USC Saturday, his second visit of the season.
