Florida State LB commit sets official with Gamecocks

South Carolina will get linebacker Rosendo Louis of Deerfield Beach, Fla. in for an official visit this weekend giving them the last major recruiting opportunity with him before the start of the dead period Monday. Louis plans to sign Dec. 20 and enroll early. He has been a Florida State commitment but the Gamecocks are very much in the mix.

“He was high on South Carolina early,” said Deerfield Beach coach Javon Glenn. “He committed to Florida State and with the coaching change he had to look at things, but South Carolina was always one of his favorites. T-Rob (Travaris Robinson) did a good job of building a relationship with him. He’s been on campus several times for camps and visits.”

Glenn said Oklahoma and Miami also recruited Louis hard. His parents will join him on the visit and when he returns home Louis and his coach will get together, with his family, on the final decision.

This season Louis had 98 tackles with five sacks and one interception and was first team All-County.

“He’s a throwback linebacker,” his coach said. “He has an old school mentality. He plays sideline to sideline.”
