Basketball recruiting: Malik Ellison wraps up official visit to USC

Shooting guard Malik Ellison of Burlington, N.J., made an official visit to South Carolina over the weekend.

Ellison (6-6) was joined on the trip by his father and coach, former college player of the year and No. 1 NBA Draft pick Pervis Ellison.

This was Ellison’s second official visit and he plans to take more at this point. He’s also been to Minnesota.

“The campus was nice,” Ellison said. “Coaching staff as a whole was very cool, and the need for me.”

Ellison recently picked up an offer from Pittsburgh. He has also been considering Georgia Tech and Wake Forest. He also has offers from Maryland, Cal, Temple and Rutgers.

He averaged 20 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists per game last season.
