Gamecocks pushing for Florida OL Brett Heggie
USC is going hard after Class of 2016 offensive lineman Brett Heggie of Mount Dora, Fla., and he’s highly interested in the Gamecocks.
He visited the Gamecocks for the first time earlier this month for their spring game and came way thoroughly impressed.
“I was a great experience,” Heggie said. “It was a great atmosphere. I enjoyed my time there. I got to see the campus. I met Coach Spurrier and talked to Coach Sands a lot. And Coach Elliott sat down with me and my parents and told me how they want me at South Carolina. It was a great visit.”
Heggie (6-4, 290) also has seen Florida and Central Florida. He has no future visits planned.
“I think I’m done for the spring,” he said.
Heggie also has offers from Cincinnati, Florida International, NC State, Central Florida, West Virginia, Indiana, Georgia Southern, Tulane, Memphis and Iowa State. And he’s not prepared to shorten his list or name favorites at this point.
“I haven’t looked into every team,” he said. “I need to start looking into it and break it down.”
No coaches came through his school last week, but Heggie is expecting recruiters to stop by in the coming weeks.
