Center target drops Gamecocks from consideration

South Carolina center target Conor Clifford (7-0) of Saddleback College (Calif.) has narrowed his decision to Utah and Washington State, his coach said Thursday.

Clifford also took an official visit recently to USC.

He was the junior college player of the year in California last season and is a native of Huntington Beach, Calif.

The Gamecocks also missed out on Seton Hall transfer guard Jaren Sina when he committed to George Washington.

USC has turned its attention to power forweard Eric Cobb (6-9) of Baltimore, Md. He recently decommitted from Kansas State. USC, Virginia Commonwealth and Seton Hall reportedly are three of the top schools with him at this point.

The Gamecocks also remain involved with Dikembe Dixson (6-7) of Delbarton, WVa; Malik Ellison (6-6) of Burlington, N.J.,; and Tevin Mack (6-5) of Dreher. They’ve also expressed interest in UNC Asheville transfer Andrew Rowsey (5-11).
