Bryan McClendon gets another shot at blue chip South Carolina target
South Carolina offensive coordinator and receivers coach Bryan McClendon is scheduled to visit Seffner, Fla. wide receiver Warren Thompson on Tuesday.
Thompson took his official visit to USC last weekend. He’s also expecting his Florida State recruiter to visit him this week. Head coaches Will Muschamp and Willie Taggert have been in to see him.
Thompson said USC and Florida State are his top two. He also visited Tennessee.
He was committed to Taggert at Oregon, but after his USC visit, said he was “totally surprised about everything, in a good way.”
At 6-foot-5, 190 pounds, he caught 27 passes for 487 yards and six touchdowns in the first 14 games of his senior year. He caught the opening touchdown of the state title game, but his team lost 21-16 to finish 14-1.

▪ Georgia head coach Kirby Smart is scheduled to visit defensive tackle Rick Sandidge Tuesday. Gamecocks coach Muschamp and North Carolina’s Larry Fedora are also planning to visit Sandidge this week. Sandidge took his official visit to South Carolina last weekend. The Gamecocks and Bulldogs have emerged as his top two.
▪ Muschamp was in Louisa, Va. on Monday to check out 2019 linebacker Brandon Smith at his basketball practice.
