Basketball recruiting notes: Malik Ellison, Eric Cobb

Guard Malik Ellison of Burlington, N.J., is set to announce his college decision Friday afternoon at 3 p.m.

Ellison (6-6) said he will make the announcement during a news conference at his school. He is down to South Carolina, St. John’s, Minnesota and Rutgers. He plans to have caps of all four schools at his disposal and will don the one representing his choice.

Ellison visited St. John’s unofficially Tuesday. He made an official visit to USC two weeks ago.

Center Eric Cobb (6-10) of Jacksonville, Fla., wraps up his official visit to USC on Friday morning and will return to his school in Baltimore, where he will confer with his coach and think things over for at least 24 hours before finalizing a decision.

Thursday night Cobb said his visit was “going good." Last week he visited Seton Hall unofficially. Cobb, a former Kansas State commitment, is also considering Boston College, Old Dominion, Rhode Island, Massachusetts and Washington.
