In-demand corner, Gamecocks target thinks commitment will come soon

Tampa cornerback Johnny Dixon visited Florida and Miami last weekend. He said he thinks he’ll commit within a couple of weeks.

He’s down to South Carolina, Miami, Florida and Penn State. He took an official to USC in June.

As a junior he had at least one interception, but didn’t post many other stats for a 9-3 football team. He said earlier this year, opponents had been avoiding him.

“I’m athletic and I’m really good at reading plays,” Dixon said. “If I’m in zone I can see what’s coming and in man, I can lock down my receiver. Last year they only threw to my side like twice and I got one interception. The county knew about me so they threw it to the other side. I’m not trying to sound cocky but really that’s how it was. They wouldn’t throw it to me or kick it to me.”

USC at the moment has no defensive back commits, but is closing in on an announcement from Cam Smith and waiting on Jaydon Hill.

Note:

South Carolina running back target Tahj Gary, of Atlanta, visited Virginia Tech last weekend. He visited USC twice in June and has an official set with the Gamecocks for the Georgia weekend.
