South Carolina establishing itself as prime player for rising in-state point guard

Myles Tate, a 2020 6-foot point guard from Dorman High School, is the floor general for the state’s 5A defending champions.

He averaged 18 points, four rebounds and four assists per game last season. His offer list no doubt will increase over the next few months but South Carolina has already established itself as a main player.

“I”m talking to them almost every day, mostly just checking on me and seeing how things are going with me. I’m talking with them almost every day,” Tate said. “I’d fit in really well. It’s a great school. I think Coach (Frank) Martin just let’s you play. As a point guard, he lets you run the show and make the decisions.”

Tate and 2020 teammate forward P.J. Hall visited West Virginia last Friday and then camped at Pitt last weekend. Those two schools along with Clemson, NC State and Virginia are some other power programs Tate is hearing from. He also has offers from South Florida, Coastal Carolina, Wofford, College of Charleston and Presbyterian.

Tate plans to visit South Florida before the start of school and he plans a return trip to USC for some football games. He considers himself wide open at this point and doesn’t plan to make his decision until after next summer’s AAU season.
