Gamecocks basketball reaches into Florida school for blue chip guard, famous brother
South Carolina basketball made a pair of offers to teammates from Potter’s House Christian Academy in Jacksonville, Fla., each worth watching for a different reason.
Canadian 6-foot-7 forward Thomasi Gilgeous-Alexander has offers from Drake, Fresno State and New Mexico, but more notbaly His brother, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, went to Kentucky as a five-star and was the No. 11 pick in the draft this season. His teammate, 2020 6-foot-4 shooting guard Taelon Martin is considered a blue chip recruit with offers from Syracuse, Marquette, Connecticut, UMass, Virginia Tech, Penn State and Pitt.
Martin is from Springfield, Mass.
▪ USC offered 2020 Rockledge, Fla., athlete Ladarius Tennison. Some other offers include Kentucky, North Carolina, Ole Miss, Virginia Tech, South Florida and UCF.
▪ Gamecocks women’s basketball is in the top five for 6-foot guard Breanna Beal of Rock Island, Il. Also on the list are Illinois, Duke, Louisville and Michigan.
