Blue chip NC wide receiver likes Gamecocks play-calling, calls them No. 1 on his list

Belmont, N.C. receiver Ray Grier (6-foot-3, 205 pounds) figures to be one of the top prospects in his state next season. Rivals ranks him No. 10 in the Tar Heel state for 2020 and the 38th-best receiver in the country. His offers include USC, NC State, North Carolina, Tennessee, Syracuse, Virginia Tech and Purdue. This season he got to games at USC, North Carolina, NC State, Virginia Tech, and Tennessee and he took another unofficial visit to Chapel Hill this month to meet up with Mack Brown and his new staff.

Grier watched the Gamecocks play Tennessee this season and from that and other exposure to the Gamecocks he has them at the top of his list.

“I like the play calling and I like Jake Bentley. He’s a great quarterback,” Grier said. “They are number one. The atmosphere feels like home.”

Grier does not plan to make his decision until his senior season. In the last two seasons, according to MaxPreps stats, he has 53 catches for 1114 yards and 18 touchdowns.
