South Carolina target cancels big visit. How it might change things
Atlanta corner Dequanteous Watts, who tweeted Monday he’s not going to take a visit to Oregon this weekend, said that’s not an indication he’s ready to commit.
He’s still looking at a possible visit this weekend with Maryland, Louisville and Syracuse still involved. He visited South Carolina last weekend and Gamecock coach Will Muschamp is due in Wednesday for his in home visit.
“The players and the coaches showed me how much they loved me and how much they want me to come there and possibly start as a true freshman,” Watts said after his visit. “They showed me the depth chart and showed me two of their seniors are leaving at DB so there’s a possibility I could be playing early.”
The 6-foot-2, 171-pounder had 32 tackles with six interceptions and 15 pass break ups this season. He returned to picks for touchdowns and had two kickoff returns for scores.
Notes:
▪ Alabama coach Nick Saban had an in-home visit Monday with defensive lineman Jaquaze Sorrells. Penn State had a pair of defensive line coaches in earlier in the day. He will visit Penn State this weekend and Alabama the following weekend. He took his official visit to USC this past weekend.
▪ South Carolina 2020 wide receiver target Michael Wyman of Greensboro, N.C., has set an official visit to Oklahoma for April 12. He visited USC unofficially Saturday.
