South Carolina in lead group for blue chip Florida lineman

Live Oak, Fla., offensive lineman Josh Braun (6-foot-7, 320 pounds) comes from a family of offensive linemen. His father played and coaches the position. And his two brothers also played offensive line, one at Georgia Tech and one now at Texas. The younger Braun may be the most highly touted of the three with offers from South Carolina, Florida State, Miami, Florida, Georgia, Auburn, Alabama and others.

Braun has visited Florida and Florida State this spring and will visit Georgia Saturday. Over his spring break the middle of April he plans to visit auburn and Alabama. And he has scheduled an official visit with USC for May 31.

The Gamecocks’ recruiting effort, led by Will Muschamp and line coach Eric Wolford, has been strong and Braun’s father said it hasn’t gone unnoticed.

“Great relationship with Wolf and coach Muschamp,” Mike Braun said. “They were the first to come see him and the first to schedule an official. Feel good but distance makes it harder to spend more time. Wolf is a huge fan of Josh and I think he will cross train him at any of the positions. Josh has the length for tackle and size and mobility for guard.”

Coach Braun said at this point in the recruiting, three schools are standing out the most to his son.

“Well, definitely South Carolina, Georgia and Florida all have a leg up,” he said. “He would still like to get to see Auburn and Alabama. before spring ball starts for us.”

Braun said his son will schedule more official visits for June and will make his decision and commit after those visits.
