What several recruits took from visiting South Carolina spring game

Hammond defensive lineman Alex Huntley took another unofficial visit to South Carolina on Saturday for the spring game. Huntley said it was another good visit for him and he got more time to talk with the coaches.

He said he’s been to USC so often, there’s not much more for him to learn about the program. He doesn’t have any other visits planned at this point and soon he’ll be setting up some official visits. Oklahoma will get one of those.

Huntley’s teammate, defensive end Jordan Burch, also visited South Carolina on Saturday, his third consecutive Saturday visit with the Gamecocks. Huntley said he will participate in a Rivals combine in Fort Mill Sunday.

Notes:

Blacksburg cornerback Elijah Rodgers, who is now at Gardner-Webb, visited South Carolina on Saturday as he considers a possible transfer. Rodgers said he talked a good bit with recruiter Bobby Bentley about the walk-on opportunity with the Gamecocks. His plan is to finish up spring practice at Gardner-Webb this week and then take the rest of the semester to consider what he wants to do. Rodgers originally signed with Indiana out of high school.

Notalsuga, Alabama tight end Eric Shaw visited South Carolina on Saturday and spent a lot of time talking with tight ends coach Bobby Bentley. He said USC felt like a good fit to him and he plans to return for camp this summer. He said the Gamecocks continue to recruit him hard and he will talk with them about an official visit.

USC offered Pittsburgh defensive end A.J. Beatty Saturday while in for the spring game. Beatty is a heavily offered prospect with 36 offers now. His family also has a residence in Myrtle Beach so he’s been a frequent visitor to the state.

Barnwell linebacker Deshawn Watson visited USC Saturday.

Orlando safety Dominick Hill visited USC on Saturday.

Hinesville, Georgia wide receiver Anthony Parker visited South Carolina on Saturday.

Gamecocks offensive line commitment Issiah Walker visited Florida State for its spring game over the weekend.
