Four-star back decommitted from Gamecocks, but now they’re in his top 5

South Carolina is in the top five with former running back commitment Lovasea Carroll of Warrenton, Georgia and IMG Academy. He released his new top five on Friday and the others on the list are Florida, Georgia, Auburn and Ohio State.

Carroll was USC’s first commitment for the 2021 class last May, but he decommitted in September. He and the Gamecocks went their separate ways for a while but the Gamecocks recently resumed the communications and have worked their way back into the picture with him.

Notes:

USC running back target Henry Parrish of Miami is expected to take an official visit to Ole Miss this weekend according to The Rebel Walk. Originally Parrish was scheduled for a visit to Ole Miss on the 31st. He put on Instagram earlier this week that he planned make his commitment announced this week. Parrish is a former Pitt commitment, and he’s taken official visits there and to USC.

USC will have a big junior day gathering Saturday. Some of the prospects in the 2021 class who have publicized plans to be in Columbia are running back Thaddius Franklin of Miami, offensive lineman Micah Morris of Kingsland, Georgia, defensvie lineman Victoine Brown of Loganville, Georgia, tight end Hugh Laughlin of Athens, Georgia and RB Jaden Alexis of Coconut Creek, Florida.

Douglasville, Georgia tight end Edward Smith plans to see Auburn, Tennessee and USC this weekend.

Tiger, Georgia 2022 quarterback Gunner Stockton also will visit South Carolina on Saturday according to 247Sports. Stockton is coached by Jaybo Shaw, the brother of former USC quarterback and new director of player development Connor Shaw, and is close with new USC offensive coordinator Mike Bobo who offered him while he was at Colorado State.

Seneca 2023 offensive lineman Cam Johnson plans to see Auburn, Tennessee and South Carolina this weekend.

Sumter defensive end Justus Boone plans to visit Georgia on Saturday, USC on Jan. 25 and North Carolina the last weekend of the month.

Gamecocks tight end target Michael Trigg has picked up offers from Notre Dame, Tennessee and Florida State. He also holds offers from Georgia, Miami, Kentucky, LSU, Michigan, Alabama, Florida and others.

South Carolina and Clemson made the short list with TreVeyon Henderson of Hopewell, Virginia. The Gamecocks like as a running back and Clemson as a defensive back. The others on his short list are Virginia, Virginia Tech, Michigan, Penn State, Alabama, West Virginia, Ohio State, Texas A&M, LSU, Georgia, Florida, Oklahoma and Tennessee. USC offered him after his sophomore season and Clemson offered last summer.

Former Oklahoma quarterback commitment Brock Vandagriff, who is now drawing South Carolina attention among others, plans to visit Georgia Saturday.

The Gamecocks offered McRae, Georgia defensive end Patrick Tukes (6-3 270). Western Kentucky and Troy also have offered him. Tukes also is a basketball player.
