Gamecocks to add QB-turned-tight end and brother of current player as walk-ons

Three-star South Aiken tight end Jesse Sanders (6-foot-4, 200 pounds) is headed to South Carolina football as walk-on.

Sanders played some quarterback in high school before moving full time to tight end. Tennessee also offered him a walk-on opportunity, and he had been in conversation with Clemson as well. He had offers from Coastal Carolina, Georgia State, Army, Akron and Mercer. He played in the Touchstone Energy Bowl in December. According to MaxPreps stats, last season Sanders had 22 catches for 347 yards and one touchdown.

▪ Kernersville, North Carolina defensive lineman Jahvaree Ritzie has South Carolina in his top 12. The others are Oklahoma, North Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky, NC State, Wake Forest, Florida, Duke, Michigan, Georgia and Ohio State.

▪ Kernersville, North Carolina linebacker Raneiria Dillworth, who has a Gamecocks offer, plans to announce a top five on Monday.

▪ South Carolina 2022 quarterback target Quinn Ewers of Southlake, Texas was offered by Oklahoma Saturday while on a visit.
