South Carolina makes top group for two recruiting targets

South Carolina made the short lists with two of it top targets.

The Gamecocks are in the top six with speedy Lehigh Acres, Florida athlete Tar’varish Dawson and Kernersville, North Carolina defensive end Jahvaree Ritzie. Dawson is a borderline four-star recruit and Ritzie is a four-star as the No 160 recruit in the country in the 247 Sports composite rankings.

The others for Dawson are Auburn, UCF, Miami, Louisville and Minnesota. The rest of Ritzie’s top five is North Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia and Ohio State.

Ritzie measures in at 6-foot-5, 274 pounds. Last season, he 74 tackles, 18 1/2 for loss, six sacks, four pass break-ups and 15 hurries. He played end in a three-down scheme in high school and shows strong mobility on film.

Dawson brings a lot of speed, having run a 10.58-second 100-meter dash. He’s not the biggest at 5-foot-10, 175 pounds, but he picked off three passes and broke up a couple more.

▪ Leesburg, Georgia wide recevier Chauncey Magwood who had USC in his final six, committed to Kentucky.

USC and Clemson target target DB Ryan Barnes was offered by Oregon.

247Sports reported RB Will Shipley of Weddington, NC has Clemson and Notre Dame as his top two.

USC offered offered 2022 WR/FS Kendrick Law (6-0 185) of Shreveport, LA, 2023 OL Joshua Miller (6-5 315) of South Chesterfield, VA, 2023 OL Lance Williams (6-3 275) of Alcoa, TN and 2023 DE Tyler Bell (6-3 265) of Memphis.

USC target RB Trevion Cooley of Knightdale, NC was offered by Arkansas.

USC target OL Dylan Fairchild of Cumming, GA plans to cut his list to 6 May 8th.

Blythewood WR Joshua Burrell was offered by Illinois.

DB O’Mega Blake of South Pointe picked up offers from UAB and UNLV.

2022 DB Jeadyn Lukus of Mauldin was offered by Ole Miss.

Presbyterian announced 23 new signees over the last month to join the 28 signed in February. In-staters are OL Mickey Walker of Phillip Simmons; WR Jason Wright-Mann of Pendleton; OL Sagee Eason of Spartanburg; OL Seth Butcher of Lexington; RB Jordan Jackson of

Coastal Carolina basketball signees: 5-10 DeAnthony Tipler of NE Mississippi JC; 6-6 Daivon Stephens transfer from Eastern Michigan; 6-1 Tyrik Dixon transfer from MTSU; and 6-5 Kevin Williams from USC-Salkehatchie, a native of Aiken.

Vanderbilt offered 7-0 forward John Butler of Christ Church.
