Gamecocks hoping to pull speedster out of Gators’ backyard

South Carolina is one of three SEC schools to offer 2022 wide receiver Quan Lee (5-foot-11, 170 pounds) of Gainesville, Florida. Kentucky and Tennessee also have offered along with Coastal Carolina and FAU. The last two seasons combined, Lee caught 35 passes for 871 yards and six touchdowns. In his only game thus far this season, Lee had two catches for 46 yards and two scores. Last season he also averaged 38 yards per kickoff return. Lee has the big play abilities USC receivers coach Joe Cox is looking for in his next group, and he has been in touch with Lee.

“We’re just getting to know each other better and just talking about how the season is going so far and my performance,” Lee said. “He likes my play making ability, but we haven’t really discussed how I would fit in the offense yet.”

Lee is familiar with the Gamecocks from following the comings and goings of teams in the SEC East, because his brother was a recent star running back at Vanderbilt.

“I love South Carolina,” Lee said. “I fell in love with the university ever since I saw my brother (Ralph Webb) play against them. The education is top notch and I will definitely be visiting again soon. But I don’t have favorites as of now. I’m just going with the process. I haven’t been able to visit many schools due to the virus, but I have been in contact with multiple schools.”

Lee said Kentucky is one of the other schools he hears from a lot. He wants to make his commitment next summer, and before then he hopes to be able to get in those visits.

“South Carolina for sure,” Lee said. “I also plan to make trips to Notre Dame, Kentucky, Nebraska, Tennessee, Florida, Georgia and Coastal Carolina. Those are schools that I know for a fact that I will go to for camps and unofficial visits.”

Lee is ranked a three-star prospect in the 247Sports Composite and is ranked the No. 79 receiver nationally in the 2022 class. He’s ranked 63rd among all prospects in Florida for the class.
