WR target Brad Hawkins ready to reveal his commitment
Last week defensive end Ron Johnson Jr. of Camden, N.J., committed to Michigan while on an unofficial visit. The timing surprised recruiting observers because Johnson had indicated he was moving at a much slower pace.
Perhaps following his lead, Johnson’s wide receiver teammate Brad Hawkins Jr. has decided not to drag out his recruiting much longer and will announce his commitment Friday.
Hawkins said he will choose from USC, Michigan, Oregon, Temple and Rutgers.
Hawkins attended South Carolina’s Gamecocks Showcase camp earlier this month and came out of that event stating the Gamecocks and Wolverines as his two favorites. Johnson said the same coming out of the same camp. The two have said they would like to play together in college.
One factor possibly working in USC’s favor is Hawkins’ relationship with USC 2016 quarterback commitment Brandon McIlwain. The two have become close friends and have played on the same seven-on-seven team. Hawkins said McIlwain has done his best to recruit him to USC.
