Gamecocks land instate shortstop commitment
South Carolina picked up its seventh commitment for the 2017 class on Thursday from shortstop McLendon Sears of Wilson Hall in Sumter.
Five of the Gamecocks’ seven commitments for the class are from South Carolina. Last season Sears (5-11, 165) batted .340 with 12 stolen bases in 13 attempts. On the mound he was 3-0 with a 0.31 ERA. He helped lead the Barons to a state championship.
