Frank Martin, Gamecocks offer Oklahoma shooting guard

South Carolina basketball coach Frank Martin, who was at Wimbledon over the weekend, has served up an offer to 6-foot-4 shooting guard Jakolby Long of Mustang, Okla., according to PrepHoopsOklahoma.

The Gamecocks, however, may be a long shot for Long, who has said he wants to play close to home so his family can watch him. He is coached by his father.

Some of his other offers are SMU, Oklahoma State, Missouri, Texas Tech, DePaul, Ole Miss, Wichita State, Kansas State, Houston and others.

Oklahoma had been an offer for Long dating back to 2013, but the offer was pulled earlier this year because of uncertainty over his future athletic plans. Long also plays football as a wide receiver and has been hoping for some major offers in that sport, but those haven’t materialized.
