Georgia Tech O-line commitment explains why he’s giving South Carolina a closer look
Georgia Tech offensive line commitment Jimmy Bryson is headed back to South Carolina this weekend with his parents for an official visit. He also visited earlier this month for the Ole Miss game.
Bryson (6-3, 280) said USC head coach Shane Beamer is in constant contact with him, as is offensive line coach Lonnie Teasley.
“I love the coaching staff, love what they are offering,” Bryson said. “What they’ve been communicating to me is I’m the guy for them, which I love. I can’t wait to get down to campus and they can’t wait to get me there.”
Bryson saw the Gamecocks (4-3) in action against Ole Miss in what was their worst performance of the season. He also watched them on TV when they beat Oklahoma in their last outing. They host No. 10 Texas A&M this Saturday.
“I love the energy from the whole team,” Bryson said. “Winning is a big thing to me, and seeing them win against big SEC opponents, that’s big to me. I love the energy from the crowd. When I was down there, it was crazy.”
Bryson is a native of Crossville, Tennessee but attends the Baylor School in Chattanooga, where his coach is former USC quarterback and assistant coach Erik Kimrey. Yes, Kimrey puts in a good word for his alma mater every now and then, but Bryson said he’s respectful of the recruiting process and gives him his space.
“For me right now, it’s really finding how I can figure out if South Carolina is best,” Bryson said. “On my official visit, I’ll get to see what South Carolina is about. I have talked to him about South Carolina. He still loves it. He’s still a die-hard fan.”
Bryson said his Georgia Tech commitment remains in place. In fact, he is scheduled for another visit with the Yellow Jackets on Nov. 9. He’s also been to Kentucky and Missouri for games this season. A final decision will come once Bryson has sorted through everything from his visits.
“I’ll just have to see. I’ll have to get with my family and think about everything,” Bryson said. “It just depends on my official to South Carolina. That will really help out. I’m just staying patient with everything. That’s really where I’m out now.”
