Academics update: Toure Boyd
South Carolina defensive back signee Toure Boyd of Chaffey College in California has received some good news.
Boyd learned his final grades Thursday and will be good for enrolling next week at USC. Boyd said Thursday he received three Bs and a C on his final four courses, and that’s enough for him to be accepted.
Boyd was in touch with USC Thursday, and coaches were also waiting on him to get his grades so he can report.
Boyd is one of two junior college signees the Gamecocks were waiting on academically. The other is defensive end Devante Covington of Georgia Military. Covington has not qualified yet but still has a chance with a week to go before practice begins, recruiting coordinator Steve Spurrier Jr. said.
Signee Octavis Johnson previously was known to be a non-qualifier.
